Dog Foster Homes needed!

If you are interested in helping homeless dogs find forever homes we can use your help. We pay all vetting, no expense to foster homes just time and love needed. If you live within a comfortable driving distance from Faribault and would like to help let us know. We do all our vetting in Faribault and have 2 adoption days per month. We are also flexible to living arrangements and will find dogs that fit most circumstances. Email us, give us a call or stop in at our adoption day and talk to us!!

S.A.F.E. Sanctuary is a group of local people who have banded together to Save Animals From Euthanasia. Our goal is to find good forever homes for homeless pets. We are a foster based rescue so we can only take in animals as room is available. We work with animals on behavior issues when ever possible. S.A.F.E. is a no-kill group,  meaning no adoptable dog is euthanized due to space or time in foster care.   This also means that we are unable to take in dogs that have a history of aggression or biting. The dogs are not kept in kennels, they are all fostered in our homes. All pets are vetted, altered, individualized and spoiled rotten. Many of our animals come from high kill shelters where they would have been euthanized if we had not rescued them. This is their chance at a new home, they are great dogs who's only flaw was their color, size or location. With the dogs being in foster care they are socialized with other animals, worked with on house-training and obedience training so they will make fantastic family pets. We do our best to make sure all animals are healthy prior to going to their new homes. However, there is no guarantee when adopting an animal, there are things that veterinarians miss. We recommend re-worming along with an exam by your regular vet within 3 days of the adoption.  As most if our dogs come from unknown backgrounds,  it is impossible for us to screen for every possible condition.  Medical costs are part of being a responsible pet parent.  These dogs depend on us and their new families to provide them the best new life.

SAFE Sanctuary has been a active group since March of 2004 and in that short time we have rehomed almost 1000 loving dogs and cats. We started this group just to do what we could to save dogs that don't do well in shelters and to help shelters that are so over crowded that good dogs are being euthanized daily. We never dreamed that what we do was so needed!! There are huge expenses that go with this, many dogs have to be treated for heartworm and other ailments.  S.A.F.E. Sanctuary also spays/neuters all of our animals before they leave our care,  along with vaccinating for parvo/distemper and rabies.  All dogs are tested for heartworm as well. Even if you cannot adopt at this time, please feel free to make a donation to any of these wonderful animals.

S.A.F.E. Sanctuary tries to accept  owner surrenders as we have openings for them.  Please remember that we cannot take dogs with a history of aggression or a bite history.  We often have a wait for openings in foster homes, and can refer to other groups, as well as options for keeping dogs in their original homes.  Due to the lack of foster homes and the overwhelming number of owner surrenders,  we do not take cats at this time
